More of Sedona

Cathedral Rock, we have to climb all the way up there???

Cathedral Rock, we have to climb all the way up there???

We decided to come back to Sedona for a few days to enjoy the warm weather, beautiful scenery, hiking/rock climbing, and mountain biking opportunities.  The first day we headed out to hike up and around Cathedral Rock.  Our goal was to stretch our legs after the Grand Canyon, our calves were still screaming.

The summit offers spectacular views.  The Sedona area is known for having a spiritual force in certain areas.  The top of Cathedral Rock is one of the “vortex” locations.

When we approached the “Cathedral” we happened upon several people meditating.  It was such a site that Kim had to get into the action. We had a good hike and decided to end our day sampling the local brews and wines.  On our way back to camp we stopped at the Oak Creek Brewery in Sedona and a few wineries. The tastings were crazy expensive, as were the wines.  We only purchased one bottle (all we could afford). It was actually a really good Port that we both really liked.

The next day we headed out on the motorcycles for the first time in a while.  It has been pretty cold.  The riding wasn’t all that great but we managed to find some nice roads through the Prescott National Forest just outside of Prescott AZ.  Unfortunately, we forgot the camera…

Today was our last day in Sedona. There are numerous trails that allow mountain biking and we were up for the challenge. We hadn’t been on our bikes in about 3 months so we picked an “easy” trail (yeah right). We did pretty well but definitely found some new and unused (abused) muscles.

As if the 7.5 miles of “easy” trail wasn’t enough punishment, we decided to hike up to the top of Bell Rock.  We had a ball scaling the slick rock to get up to the top. While there we of course had to capture the moment with a timer shot.  Another good day…  Looking forward to the next adventure.

You are in Sue & my favorite part of the country now! I only wish we had the time to enjoy it when we were out there that you have! I can’t wait till you get to Moab. I have a feeling your going to want to take a day and ride the White Rim Trail on the bikes. Kim, if you go in from the low lands and take the switch-backs up to the Island in the Sky it will be a lot less frightening than if you go down. The first time Sue & I went out there we took the route going down…. Sue was on the floor of the car she was so afraid! Looking forward to hearing all the storys when you get home. Stay safe!

      Hey Scott and Sue,

This area is really pretty incredible. Apparently we are in the southern portion of the “Grand Circle”. We are really looking forward to hitting Utah and will definitely check out the White Rim Trail. There is just so much to see in this part of the country, we’re glad the weather is breaking so we can finally start getting to the cool places like this. I can relate to Sue being on the floor, as there have been a few roads we have found that have been pretty hairy. Hope everything is well for you and the kids. We will have stories!

      Best Wishes,
      Kim and Chris

    Hi,

I’m back in action again. I can turn my head and I am no longer hurting!
Yeh! I am thankful neither one of you got levitated away in one of those vortexes. Did you have a chance to stop at the Flying Saucer Alien Dinner?

Love the shots of Sedona. The timer photo of both of you is my favorite photo of the two of you so far just amazing with that background wow! Kim just an observation usually people meditate with their eyes closed and they are not smiling and don’t look like super models OM Shanti and Yadda Yadda Yadda to both of you.

    Love You Miss You

      Hi Mom,

Lovin’ the supermodel comment. Only a mother… We didn’t get to the Alien Diner as the traffic in Sedona was horrible (tons of roadwork). I do think there may be something to those vortex’s… We had some wierd mood swings around that area, both bad and good.

      Glad you’re feeling better,
      Love ya,
      Me

      Hey June,
Yup! We picked it up a few states back. We just haven’t had the chance to ride. I definitely need more practice. My butt hurts:)
