Guided Tour of Seminole Canyon

Before breaking camp to head for Big Bend National Park we decided to take the guided hike/tour of the Seminole Canyon. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the pictographs, the people of the time, fossils, plants, and other items of interest in the area.  We snapped a few pictures of the pictographs, views from inside the cliff dwelling, and the canyon view.  There is also a very cool statue as you leave the visitor center and enter the canyon area.  The statue is an Indian Shamen and depicts a human figure with a deer head, common in the pictographs found all over the canyon.

While here at Seminole Canyon and the surrounding area we have had the pleasure of meeting several other travelers.  Hazie and Shorty, who are heading down to Falcon Lake State Park, Gail and Ken who are traveling south to meet some friends, and two couples from Ontario Canada traveling together and headed to the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena.  Everyone one is friendly and each conversation sheds new light on places to go and things to see.

FYI… We do not expect to have service in Big Bend and plan on being here until Tuesday.

Guided Tour? you guys? I am shocked! seriously,That looks like a great place i am sure that a tour is the best way to learn all about the area and its artifacts. Your weather seems to be improving as well. We received the Christmas card and the envelope for Chase, thanks for the warm wishes and stuff for the boy. We enjoyed seeing you guys over Thanksgiving and we are happy that we got to have dinner with Luke. Thanks for Taking Chase around town, and for all the goodies you added to our food and wine/beer supply. I will be back to check out your next adventure and pics! we will talk to you at Christmas if yall are not in a dead zone. Stay warm and safe.

    Greetings from snowy Webster!
Just did a Google Earth search of Seminole Canyon to see where you are. Thanks for all the great pics. Tomorrow we leave for Ocean Springs MS. There won’t be a white Christmas there but there will be a cute little 4 year old grandson there to play with!
    Merry Christmas!
